The goal of this manual is to guide new users on how to set up a location-based navigation system using floor plans, beacons, and barriers in the Navigine platform. The manual is broken down into easy-to-follow steps, with explanations provided to help users understand why each step is important and what it does.
Please sign in to Navigine account.
The first step in setting up a location-based navigation system is to upload an image of the floor plan. This will serve as the basis for all subsequent steps, including adding beacons, drawing barriers, and creating navigation routes. To access a more detailed manual, visit the creating locations.
After uploading the floor plan, the next step is to draw barriers on closed locations and walls. Barriers define areas of the floor plan that are off-limits to navigation and will help to ensure that the navigation system accurately reflects the layout of the building. Click the Save button in the top right corner to save all changes. To access a more detailed manual, visit the draw barrier
NOTE: To ensure the accuracy of your indoor navigation, it is important to properly overlay barriers on your floor plan. This will prevent the navigation from going outside the boundaries of the image. When you draw a new barrier, make sure it is placed within the borders of the floor plan image as on pic 3.
The route defines the path that a user will follow when navigating through the building. It is important to ensure that the route is accurate and takes into account any barriers and obstacles that may be present. Click the Save button in the top right corner to save all changes. To access a more detailed manual, visit the draw route
Finally, if desired, users can manage venues. Venues are places within the building that can be used for navigation, such as restrooms, elevators, or offices. By creating venues, users can easily navigate to specific locations within the building. To access a more detailed manual, visit the manage venues
If the building has multiple floors, it is necessary to add elevation points at the end of the navigation route on each floor. These elevation points will be used to connect the navigation routes on different floors and ensure that users can move between floors smoothly and accurately. Click the Save button in the top right corner to save all changes. To access a more detailed manual, visit the add elevation points
NOTE: To edit the added elements, like routes, barriers and venues, follow the steps below:
- Click on the Editing elements on map tool icon in the toolbar to activate it.

- Click the "Save" button in the right top corner to save all changes.
Step 7.1 Add Beacons in Locations
The next step is to add beacons to the floor plan. Beacons are the devices that will be placed around the building to provide location data to the navigation system. By adding beacons to the floor plan, you can ensure that they are placed in the correct locations and that the navigation system will receive accurate location data. Click the Save button in the top right corner to save all changes. To access a more detailed manual, visit the ble beacon.
Step 7.2 Add Beacons in Navigine Demo App
This is an alternative way to add beacons into the system. Download the Navigine app, which is available for both iOS and Android devices in Googld Play and AppStore. The app allows users to access the navigation system on the go and provides a simple and user-friendly interface for navigation.
2.1. Add beacons to the map by pressing the "start" button to detect a nearby beacon. The detected beacon will then be added to the map.
2.2. Alternatively, if you know the UUID, Major and Minor of the beacon, you can use the advanced settings to add it to the map. Press on the map fill in the fields and press the "start" button to add the beacon to the map.
NOTE: Once you have added beacons inside the app, they will automatically appear on the map in the Navigine Mapping Tool.
Open Navigine mobile demo app and log in to your account to test navigation and wayfinding features.
To install Android version check Navigine in Google Play for iOS version check Navigine in AppStore
Grant location permission and ensure that your device's Bluetooth and Location services are turned on to enable accurate navigation.
Open Locations tab and choose the location that was previously set up in the Navigine Mapping Tool.
Head over to the Navigation tab. If everything was set up properly, a blue dot will appear on the map indicating current location.
Select any venue or point on the map to build route and press start to experience navigation.
To change a sublocation size open Navigine Platform (Mapping tool).
2.1. Here, you can adjust the size by dragging the picture or use the Advanced settings for more precise changes.
